Ayr is a town on the Firth of Clyde, Scotland. Although the town has been a Royal Burgh since 1205, the county town of Ayrshire and a port Ayr is most widely known for it's associations with Robert Burns. Widely known as the national poet of Scotland Burns' influence is world wide and a large proportion of visitors travel to Ayr as, almost, a pilgrimage.
