Basingstoke Bed & Breakfast

St Michael's Church, Basingstoke

Basingstoke is an old market town which lies at the source of the River Loddon in the county of Hampshire, England. The town is about 48 miles (77 km) from London and is known as the "Doughnut City" because of the great number of roundabouts. Evidence shows that the area has been inhabited since the Iron Age and it is mentioned in the Domesday Book (under an old English name) but many people assume it to be a 1960's new town. In fact Basingstoke did indeed expand greatly during the sixties but it was never designated a New Town. The city is a great place to stay with lots of things to see and do to keep you entertained.
