Northamptonshire is a county in the East Midlands of England. The county is also known as the County of Northampton (after the county town of Northampton) or shortened to Northants. For a county with no cities it appears to have a disproportionate number of historic buildings and places to visit and this has earned it the nickname of the county of 'squires and spires'.
