Ipswich is a town in the county of Suffolk, England. The town is one of the oldest in the country and the Ipswich Museum has a gallery of Anglo-Saxon artefacts together with several other interesting exhibitions. The town is situated at the head of the Orwell estuary and developed, in the Middle Ages, into ann important trading post. Although there has been plenty of redevelopment over the years Ipswich still has a number of places well worth seeing, including Christchurch Mansion, Ancient House (pictured above) and the 15th century church of St. Lawrence. Although the town can be described as compact you may wish to take one of the sightseeing tours where you can take in all of the important landmarks from an open top bus.
