Leeds Corn Exchange

Leeds is a city in the county of West Yorkshire, England. The town was granted city status in 1893 but it's history can be traced as far back as the 5th century. In the Middle Ages it was a simple market town servicing a majorly agricultural industry but, during the Tudor perion it was, by then, a prospering merchant town with a growing woolen industry and strong trade links with Europe. Today Leeds is very much a post industrial city with a focus on education and medicine, with the University of Leeds, the Leeds Metropolitan University, Leeds General Infirmary and St James's University Hospital. Leeds has spent many years rejuvinating and cleaning up the city centre and the tourism industry has grown considerably (Leeds has won several tourism awards in recent year). There is a large list of things to do and see in and around the city, covering a very broad range of tastes and interests.
