Newcastle Upon Tyne Bed & Breakfast

Newcastle Upon Tyne is a city in the county of Tyne and Wear, England. The site of the city, on the north bank of the River Tyne, has been settled for over 2,000 years and the "new castle" was built in 1080. In the 17th century the town grew rapidly as it profited from the coal industry. Newcastle's heyday was in the 19th century but by the 1930's the city was in industrial decline. In recent years Newcastle Upon Tyne has seen a large amount of investment and now offers the visitor a vibrant European arts and nightlife destination where modern attractions stand side by side with a great many fine listed buildings (only London and Bath have more listed buildings than Newcastle).
