Stoke-on-Trent is a city in the county of Staffordshire in the West Midlands of England. Unusually Stoke-on-Trent was federated town formed by six separate towns and in 1925 it became a city. The area is comsidered the home of the English pottery industry and is known as "The Potteries". With such a strong association with the pottery industry it will not come as any great surprise to find that there are plenty of museums and galleries about the industry. If you are visiting Stoke-on-Trent try to make time to visit the brilliant Potteries Museum & Art Gallery which is home to one of the finest ceramics collection in the world. Another museum worth visiting is the Gladstone Pottery Museum (pictured above) is an excellent working museum of a pottery once common in the North of Staffordshire.
