Swansea is a a city and county of Wales. The county includes the Gower peninsula and the Lliw uplands and it is the third most populous county in Wales. Situated on the South West coast of Wales the city of Swansea. The port grew dealing in wines, wool and cloth but, with the coming of the industrial revolution the port became heavily involved in the transportation of coal. Another industry which flourished in Swansea was the copper industry and the city quickly became one of the primary centres in the industry and it became known as "Copperopolis" as a result. Today tourism plays an increasingly important role in the local economy and in this post-industrial age Swansea is investing heavily in redevelopment.
